Alert! Now Bank Employees To Work 5 Days a Week, Sat, Sunday Will Be Off

This Tuesday, the Union Finance Ministry shared a big idea in Parliament about banks. They’re suggesting making every Saturday a holiday for all banks in India, meaning they’d only work five days a week. The Minister of State for Finance, Bhagwat Karad, mentioned that the Indian Bank Association (IBA) is behind this proposal.

Banks To Be Operational 5 Days a Week

In 2015, the government made a new rule for all banks in India. Now, bank employees get two Saturdays off each month. So, on the second and fourth Saturdays, all banks in the country take a break. This rule applies to both public and private sector banks.

Over 15 million people work in the banking sector. There’s been a consistent request for a 5-day workweek, especially from both public and private banks. Public sector banks have emphasized this point multiple times. This request isn’t limited to a specific type of bank; it includes public and private banks in India, foreign banks, cooperative banks, regional rural banks, and all India financial institutions under the umbrella of the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA)=
